If America wants to retain its sovereignty, it needs to build its defense at home. With record recruiting numbers and the need for stockpiling, now is the time to invest in defense production.
Speaking at the Pennsylvania Defense and Innovation Summit at the Pennsylvania War College, President Trump said, “we're rebuilding the arsenal of American strength,” announcing a $10 billion investment in the nation's defense industrial base. This is expected to support more than 4,000 jobs in the Keystone State. The investment will expand production in munitions, shipbuilding, the space industry, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other advanced technologies that will shape the future of both economic and military power.
This is the reminder the country needs: American security is homegrown, built by our workers, in our factories, and using our innovation. It can’t be outsourced anywhere else.
National defense isn’t just about the budget itself, but about who is spending the money and where. It should remain a closed loop, buying from American companies. The first line of defense is built long before a service member ever puts on a uniform. It begins in the factories, machine shops, shipyards, and research laboratories.
Pennsylvania is the perfect place to launch this effort. For generations, the Keystone State has stood at the center of American industry. Its steel mills, manufacturers, engineers, and skilled tradesmen helped build the Arsenal of Democracy during World War II and have continued supporting America's defense ever since. Investing there is a way of honoring our past while fighting for our future.
The battles of tomorrow will be less about boots on the ground, and will involve more drones, air defense systems, and autonomous vehicles. Artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous systems, advanced manufacturing, and space technologies are transforming the global balance of power. If America intends to remain the world's superior military and economic power, those industries must continue growing here instead of migrating overseas.

A nation that loses its industrial capacity inevitably loses strategic flexibility. President Trump's investment expands on this. Rather than outsourcing critical industries or relying on geopolitical rivals for defense manufacturing, we’re choosing to strengthen America's own workforce and production abilities.
The benefits are not just for the defense sector. Every new manufacturing facility creates demand for suppliers, construction workers, transportation companies, machine shops, and small businesses throughout surrounding communities. Thousands of high-paying jobs will provide young Americans with meaningful careers and the chance to start a family, all while keeping long-standing trades alive.
As President Trump remarked during the summit, “We're bringing these industries back where they belong.” It’s all a part of the America First agenda. We’re rebuilding manufacturing, bringing back domestic energy production, securing the border, and prioritizing national defense.
Strong borders require a strong economy. A strong economy requires a strong industrial base. And a strong industrial base requires leaders willing to invest in American workers instead of foreign competitors.
The $10 billion investment, first announced in Pennsylvania, is a vote of confidence in American ingenuity, American manufacturing, and American strength.
